Coaching
If you want to grow your business beyond your current pace, Executive Coaching can be the stimulus you need to make it happen. Our approach to Executive coaching is specifically focused on understanding and defining your own motivation, agreeing clear goals and then developing a strategic growth plan, to implement the changes that are required to grow. The coaching sessions follow a clear process (as outlined in the book “Accelerating Company Growth” ) to challenge your current assumptions, reframe your thinking and set a clear vision and growth plan, for the business and you to achieve this growth. Our coaching combines mentoring from Brendan, an experienced entrepreneur, who has developed and grown a number of his own companies, in addition to coaching and mentoring hundreds of CEO’s, who have achieved significant success.
Coaching is not like therapy, the methodology adopted by Brendan is focused on motivation, by understanding what is possible, challenging assumptions to identify what is holding you back, putting forward different perspectives to exploring various options and ultimately making informed decisions, that are made by the client, not the coach. At times we all need a steer or encouragement to push us forward, in the direction we know we need to go, a good coach will push us to perform way beyond what we believe we are capable of.

Training
Celtic Leadership have worked on a number of the top executive programmes in Ireland and the UK, covering all aspects of the programme, from design to management, coaching and presenting the core content. These programmes have proven to be very successful in accelerating the growth of companies and in developing the top executives by following a format of a) in classroom teaching from experienced trainers b) supported by in company executive coaching to apply the learning c) facilitated by peer learning groups to drive discussion and debate among the participants who share their own experiences.
Some of the programmes we have worked on include the following:
Leadership 4 Growth (L4G) Programme with Enterprise Ireland: L4G is Enterprise Ireland’s flagship leadership programme. Enterprise Ireland’s Leadership 4 Growth Programme develops world-class business leaders, equipped with the necessary visionary, strategic and innovative capabilities required to scale sustainable companies on the global stage. Leadership 4 Growth is delivered in partnership with IESE Business School, in association with Learning Partnership, where Brendan is one of the Business Advisor Coach’s (BAC). The programme focuses on developing and implementing a leadership growth plan for the CEO and a strategic growth plan for the company.
Accelerated Growth Engagement (AGE) Programme with Enterprise Ireland: AGE ran for a number of years, Brendan worked with the IMI as a co-director for this programme, shaping its design and implementation, assisting in the management of the team of entrepreneurial coaches. Brendan also acted as a coach to a number of the CEO’s on this programme, which included companies across different sectors such as manufacturing, technology, online retailing, business process automation etc. The programme produced great results by helping the CEO’s create and implement an accelerated growth plan. The majority of companies that Brendan worked with have gone on to be some of the most successful scaling companies in Ireland today.
Leadership Team Ambition to Scale Programme with Invest NI: The programme has been running for a number of years. Brendan has been an executive coach to a number of CEO’s and their top two executive team members. The companies Brendan has worked with are across many different sectors including aviation, manufacturing, technology, e-learning, food production and professional services. This programme has seen significant success and each year the number of applicants grows based on the results that previous participants have achieved. The focus of the programme is to help the CEO and the leadership teams to develop and implement a business growth plan and leadership development plan.
IPO Ready Programme with Irish Stock Exchange (now Euronex): This programme was designed to help larger scaling companies, prepare for accessing large scale funding for growth, such as Private Equity, Debt and ultimately an IPO. Brendan was a co founder of this programme and acted as a presenter and executive coach to a number of companies who participated. The programme was designed for the CEO and CFO, to develop an equity story for funding accelerated growth. The programme has been very successful and a number of the participants have raised significant funds, to help grow their companies internationally.
Accelerating Company Growth Programme: this programme has been developed and delivered by Celtic Leadership to help companies accelerate their growth by applying the principles of the book “Accelerating Company Growth”. This programme is typically run privately for a single company to bring all of their senior management on a journey to accelerate the growth and develop the team. The programme typically runs for nine months with a day per month working together in a workshop.
Celtic Leadership Programme: This programme was designed by Brendan Dowling, to meet the needs of senior executives as a person, growing beyond the focus on business growth. The programme focuses on the core elements of good leadership for the individual, that helps get the work life balance right, to ensure job performance, while looking after yourself as a leader to achieve real fulfilment. The key elements of the three day residential programme explored Communications, Energy, Love, Traditions, Intuition and Culture.

Brendan has worked with a range of clients in Ireland and the UK, across all business sectors and sizes, but particularly focused on SME’s. The majority of clients are CEO’s of scaling companies who want to accelerate their growth and improve their leadership skills. Many of these clients went on to win various business awards, both locally and internationally and are recognised as the most innovative and the fastest growing companies in the country.
Given the nature of the work, where we build trusted relationships with CEO’s and their senior management team, we don’t advertise their names or discuss the assignments in public. By definition the assignments we take on are private and confidential, in many cases only the CEO will be coached, in total confidence, without anyone else in the business being aware. However before we start a new assignment, we will provide references that can be contacted by the client, to vouch for the success of our coaching and training. In all cases we will check with a pervious client before we make any introductions.
Bio

Brendan has worked as a technology entrepreneur for most of his career, having created and scaled, a number of innovative companies, in the telecoms and media industry.
He began work as an executive coach during the 2008 recession, helping the Irish and UK Governments, to scale indigenous industry, through accelerating the growth of companies, using Government funded executive training programmes, targeted at the CEO’s. Brendan has worked with some of the most successful entrepreneurs and CEO’s in Ireland and the UK, helping them to scale their companies, to become significant players, in international markets and creating significant economic growth, through job creation and exports.
Brendan qualified as an Executive Coach with University College Cork / IMI and has worked with hundreds of CEO’s and their top management teams, helping them accelerate the growth of their business and to improve leadership skills, both at work and in life. This coaching work covers all aspects of growing a business and typically follows a process as outlined in his book “Accelerating Company Growth”. Brendan also works with CEO’s on their personal development and wellbeing, to achieve a good work life balance and to enhance their life satisfaction, focused on the individual as opposed to the company.
Brendan works as a motivational speaker on various masters programmes in Universities (typically MBA’s) and Executive Education programmes at business schools in Ireland and the UK, giving entertaining speeches and practical advice from his own experience as an entrepreneur and though the experience of working with other entrepreneurs and CEO’s.
Brendan is the author of “Accelerating Company Growth” (A practical guide for CEO’s) published by Oak Tree Press, see “Book” tab for more information or to purchase the book online. This book has been used on various executive programmes, that are focused on helping companies build and accelerate their growth. Brendan has delivered a number of speeches and training programmes, based on his book, at annual conferences and for various industry organisations. He delivers a programme based on the book, directly to companies wanting to innovate or scale.
Brendan is a non-executive Chair to a number of Irelands most successful SME’s.
Brendan obtained a bachelor of commerce degree from University College Cork before joining KPMG (Dublin) to train as a Chartered Accountant. After qualifying, Brendan joined PWC (London) working in the corporate recovery and corporate finance departments. Brendan completed an MBA at University College Dublin and a Diploma in Executive Coaching from University College Cork / IMI (Dublin).
